American sports car tuning house Hennessey Performance Engineering has revealed the ‘Venom F5’, the follow up to 2010’s ‘Venom GT’. John Hennessey, founder and president of the company said on the occasion of the launch, “We are very excited about this next chapter of the Venom, which brings forth an all-new design that is not only a powerful and unique statement that our clients are looking for, but a vehicle that will achieve even higher performance through improved aerodynamics…We learned a great deal during the development of the Venom GT in breaking the 270-mph barrier, and we bring that experience to this new design as we look toward raising the performance bar even higher.”

The ‘Venom F5’ is going for the world record for top speed with a speed of around 290 mph (466.71 km/h), 20 mph more than the ‘Venom GT’. The new car has a body that supports better aerodynamics, reducing the drag coefficient from 0.44 to below 0.40 and also generating a very high amount of down-force with a rear diffuser, rear wing and an underbody with special design.

Providing power to this speed demon will be an updated version of the 7.0 liter twin-turbo V8 engine which in the Venom GT delivered around 1,244 bhp (928 kW) but in this will deliver around 1,400 bhp (1,044 kW). This increase was made possible by bigger turbochargers and upgraded intercooler and fuel system. The weight of the car’s body will not exceed 1,300 kg (2,866 lbs) because of the use of aluminum and carbon fiber. ‘Venom F5’ will be doing from 0-186 mph (0-300 km/h) in less than 13.63 seconds while the 0-200 mph (0-322 km/h)will take less than 14.51 seconds. While the full details will be revealed in 2015, deliveries will start towards end of 2016. A minimum of 30 units will be built.
