The ‘Sonata’ luxury sedan is one of the oldest products of South Korean car maker Hyundai. After the initial launch in 1985, the car was withdrawn for poor reception. Later it was re-launched as more improved car and went on to become the flagship product of Hyundai. At present the car is sold in 193 countries and sales have crossed millions. At the 2014 New York International Auto Show, the seventh generation of ‘Sonata’ was presented as the 2015 model year. The car has been totally restyled and is expected to increase the sales. The new car is wider, longer, quieter and more comfortable than before.


Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design style continues with this new car. Smooth surfaces and crisp lines are the two main aspects of it. The stylish front grill is larger than before and air intakes are also wider. Horizontal rocker panels will help in better stability. The rear section now features a chrome lip spoiler and dual exhaust pipes. LED daytime running lamps have been added to this model. High strength steel has been used to build the new platform.

The interior features a totally new angular dashboard. This time designers have kept the point of ergonomics in mind. Thanks to the use of new materials, noise inside the cabin has greatly reduced. The navigation system now has an 8 inch screen and audio system has a display as well.


In the engine section, power makes way for better response to perform better in low RPM. There are two main options for engine and both are four cylinder units. The Theta II 2.4 liter GDI engine has an output of 185 horsepower and 178 lb. ft of torque. The other engine is more powerful 2.0 liter turbocharged with 245 horsepower and torque of 260 lb. ft. Both engines are paired with six-speed automatic SHIFTRONIC transmission.
