Kia Motors is South Korea’s oldest car manufacturer. It was founded in 1957 and is currently part of the Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group with Hyundai owning 32.8% stake in Kia. Kia launched the ‘Soul EV’ compact car in May 2014. It is Kia’s first all-electric mass production car. Based on the second generation Kia Soul compact car, it is currently available in Asia and Europe. Kia has announced that the ‘Soul EV’ will be available in the United States from late 2014 as a 2015 model year. The US is one of the biggest markets of electric vehicles, so it is no wonder that Kia will be looking to make it big with the fully electric car. The prices have been announced already.

The 2015 model year ‘Soul EV’ has been equipped nicely with comfort and utility features. Some of the key features include- comfortable, power driver seat, power locks and windows and cruise control. The model also has additional features like GPS navigation, Bluetooth connectivity and a rear view camera. The ‘Kia Soul EV’ also comes with an UVO infotainment system along with the very useful EV Services that display useful information like battery status, location of nearby charging stations etc. There is also a higher variant called the ‘Soul EV Plus’ that has more features. The features include- ventilated/ heated leather seats, projection fog lamps and power folding mirrors. The source of power to the vehicle is provided by a lithium-ion polymer battery (27 kWh) which is paired with an electric motor. The unit develops power of 109 bhp (81 kW) and torque of 210 lb-ft (284 Nm). The unit allows the vehicle to go from 0 to 60 mph in under 12 seconds. The limited top speed is 90 mph (145 km/h). According to Kia, the model comes with an EPA-estimated range of 150 km/h (93 miles).
