General Motors Company (popularly GM) has been a major force in the global automobile industry for many years now. It owns ten auto brands including popular names like Opel, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC etc. GMC is one of the oldest divisions of General Motors and mainly manufactures trucks and other utility vehicles. GMC trucks are almost identical to Chevrolet trucks as they share same mechanics but different nameplates and badges. The ‘GMC Sierra’ full-size pickup truck and its twin ‘Chevrolet Silverado’ was launched in 1998. Out of the two the ‘Sierra’ is seen as the more upscale model. The model is currently in its third generation.

GMC has recently revealed the Sierra Carbon Edition for the 2015 model year. It will start sales later this year. The new ‘Carbon Edition’ uses the ‘Sierra 1500’ model as the base and will come in three configuration options.

The ‘Carbon 22 Edition’ configuration is applied on the SLE double/ crew cab models. It will add carbon fiber based appliqués for the hood, a black grille and accents for the door handles and mirror caps. The model also comes with features like fog lights, black side steps and stylish black 22-inch alloy wheels. Other notable features include- keyless starting, dual-zone climate controls, Universal Home Remote and 110-volt power outlet. On the other hand, the ‘Carbon 20 Edition’ is applied on SLE double cab models. It also features a black grille, similar hood appliqués and stylish 20-inch aluminum made wheels.

Lastly comes the ‘Sierra Carbon Edition’ which is applied on the ‘1500 double cab model’ and also adds black grille, carbon fiber appliqués and accents on mirror caps and handles (body color). This particular edition also has many useful features like – keyless entry, a 110-volt outlet for charging gadgets and special lighting (LED cargo box).
