Holden, the biggest car brand in Australasia (Australia and New Zealand) was founded originally in 1856. But back then it built horse saddles. It entered the field of automobiles in 1908 and in 1931 was taken over by General Motors. Holden controls all of GM’s vehicle operations in the region. Apart from selling rebadged GM model from brands like Opel, Chevrolet, Vauxhall , Isuzu etc., Holden also sells locally manufactured vehicles. The ‘Holden Colorado’ pickup truck was previously sold as the ‘Rodeo’ from 2003 to 2008. It is actually a badge engineered version of the Isuzu D-Max, first launched in 2002. The name change in 2008 took place because of the business split between GM and Isuzu. Currently the ‘Colorado’ is in its second generation.

Recently Holden has revealed the new version of the truck known as the ‘Black Edition’. The unveiling will take place at the Deniliquin Ute Muster, the biggest ute muster (ute festival) of Australia. This year the festival is expected to draw more than 20,000 people. The new edition will displayed alongside some other special models. The ‘Black Edition’ is based on the ‘Colorado’ crew cab variant. There was a strong demand from customers for the on-trend look and so Holden decided to respond to it. The company is now offering customers to put together accessory packages.

The notable features of Colorado Black Edition include:

  • A Hard tonneau cover
  • Black colored sports bar
  • Black colored nudge bar
  • Black colored bonnet protector
  • Slim weather-shields
  • Double iPad cradles for the rear seats (till stocks are available)

To attract customers Holden will be offering price discounts for the model. Since this is a special edition model, the ‘Black Edition Colorado’ will be available for sale from select Holden Dealers until the stocks are available.
