2015 Ford S MAX 4 Second generation ‘2015 Ford S MAX’ coming soon

American auto giant Ford had launched the ‘S-MAX’ MPV back in 2006. Ford has also described the vehicle as a SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle). Since its release the model has received several awards including the 2007 ‘European Car of The Year’. Therefore it was only natural that Ford would be taking the model forward. Now the car maker has officially revealed the second generation of the ‘S-MAX’. The public debut of the car will take place in October at the Paris Motor Show.

As seen in the ‘S-MAX Concept’ at last year’s Geneva Motor Show , the seven-seater MPV has taken styling inspiration from other recent Ford cars including the face lifted Fiesta and Focus. Some of the main differences from the outgoing model will be the sculpted headlamps and chrome touched trapezoidal front grille. The car is built on the platform of the latest version of ‘Ford Mondeo’. There are some new features like the power-folding seats (second and third rows) and the automatic boot lid. But the feature list does not end here. Ford has also added side airbags for the back seats, steering column with electronic adjustment and heated /cooled front seats with massage features.

There are still no official announcement about the engines. But most likely the second generation ‘S-MAX’ will come with a 2.0 liter TDCI diesel engine with 118 bhp (80 kW) and paired with a six-speed manual transmission. There are two more powerful versions with 148 bhp and 177 bhp (132 kW) output available with six-speed manual or a dual-clutch auto transmission. Those who are looking for petrol engine will likely get a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost (158 bhp /118 kW) and 2.0 liter EcoBoost (237 bhp/ 177 kW). For the first time the ‘S-MAX’ is expected to come with a four-wheel-drive. Sales of the model begins from 2015.
