Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo was founded in 1910 and since 1911 it became one of the mainstays of the Motorsports world winning many championships over the years. Since 1986 Alfa Romeo has been a part of the Fiat Group. Known for its technological innovations the company has earned a name for building luxurious sports cars. One of its current production models is the luxurious, sporty super-mini car, the ‘MiTo’. It was originally launched in 2008 and till 2012 around 200,000 units have been built. It competes in its class with the Mini from BMW and the Audi A1. It uses a platform developed by Fiat and used on the Fiat Grande Punto. The model is also called ‘MiTo Junior’ as the model was originally inspired by the 1966 ‘1300 GT Junior’. For the 2014 model year, Alfa Romeo is giving a revision to the model. The entry-level Alfa Romeo has now been made sportier and targeted mainly to younger buyers.

The ‘MiTo Junior’ now has an exterior that has been given slight modifications. Most notable changes take place at the rear where a new sporty looking rear bumper and an exhaust tip with chrome-plating is added. Other changes are quite limited. There is white finish for the 17 inch alloy wheels and mirror caps and also accents satin chrome. The inside changes are also minor. There are some tweaks in the styling like the fabric based sport seats that has been decorated with white stitching. The floor mats are given ‘Junior’ branding and the steering wheel is covered with leather. Some key features are- Uconnect infotainment with 5-inch screen and automatic dual climate control.

The changes come in powertrain as Alfa Romeo is offering various engine options with the new ‘MiTo Junior’. The available engines are:

  • Petrol 1.4-liter unit with output of 78 PS
  • Turbo TwinAir .9 liter with output of 105 PS
  • Turbo Petrol 1.4 liter MultiAir with power of 140 PS
  • JTDM 1. 3 liter engine with 85 PS
