American car maker Ford first launched the compact SUV ‘Kuga’ in 2007. Its compact size is achieved by using the C1 automobile platform that is found in cars like the ‘Ford Focus’ and Ford C-MAX. The car was built at Ford’s plant in Germany and was mainly made for the European market. However, few years later the decision was taken to introduce a Badge engineered ‘Kuga’ in the North American market as the ‘Ford Escape’. The second generation ‘Kuga’ came out in 2011 as 2012 model year. In the UK market only two of the top variants of the model are sold.

For the 2015 model year , Ford has decided to launch the ‘Kuga’ with a more powerful engine than before, in the UK market. Most ‘Kuga’ units sold till September drew power from a four cylinder 2.0-liter TDCi turbodiesel engine. Now Ford will be increasing the power output of the engine t make it a more attractive prospect.

The older output was power of 163 HP and 340 Nm but after engineers of Ford are through with the engine, it will be able to produce power of 180 HP and an impressive torque of 400 Nm. With the engine, both manual gearbox and PowerShift auto transmission is available.

The UK –spec ‘Kuga’ is also available with EcoBoost 1.5 liter engine with power of 110 kW/ 150 HP (FWD and manual transmission) and power of 134 kW/ 182 HP (AWD automatic transmission). The 2.0 liter TDCi engine also comes with 150 HP (FWD/ manual gearbox) some of the other notable updates include new body colors like- Tiger Eye ( Metallic paint), Magnetic (Metallic paint) and Ruby Red (Metallic color). The top of the range ‘Titanium X Sport’ trim will come with a special body kit. In the cabin, the ‘Kuga’ Ford SYNC infotainment with AppLink system and voice activated apps.
