Nissan established the luxury brand Infiniti to explore the market of luxury cars where Japanese brands has not been able to establish much foothold. It was in 1989 when Infiniti started launching cars in the American market. Nissan was so focused on the foreign luxury car market that it did not launch the brand in its home market of Japan until the year 2013. Over the years Infiniti operations have expanded to more than 15 countries. In 2010, Infiniti, in order to bring more diversification established a high performance division of its own, the IPL or Infiniti Performance Line. In addition to its production models, Infiniti has impressed automobile enthusiasts from time to time with stunning concept models. The best examples of this are the electric luxury cars like the ‘Etherea’ and the ‘LE’. For some months the news of a new Infiniti concept had been making the rounds. A photo of the ‘Q80 Inspiration’ had surfaced recently on the web the car was seen to be sleek looking coupe with four doors. Finally the public debut was held at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. With this new concept Infiniti looks to make its presence felt at the topmost levels of premium luxury sedans. There is also a hint of how the future Infiniti designs will look like. Francois Bancon, Infiniti’s VP of Product Strategy has said that concept is born to create some disruption in the segment of premium sedans. But the makers also wanted the car to be stylish, elegant and emotionally designed. Infiniti feels that this is the future of high end transportation and will be the base of a production model. Therefore it is clear that this new ‘Q80 Inspiration’ is a key part of Infiniti’s future plan.

The bold exterior design of the new ‘Q80 Inspiration’ is stunning to say the least. The proportions are generous 2010mm in width and 5060mm in length with a 1340mm stance. Despite its sporty shape the car looks sedan like. According to Infiniti’s design director Alfonso Albaisa, the concept car has broken the traditional form for premium sedans.

Inside the car there are four individual seats. You can enter the car through portal style doors. The interior has been kept simple yet stylish. The driver interface is simplified and the HUD (Heads-Up Display) shows only the essential information. This way the driver is not introduced to the complex ideas and technology that has been put into it. Both rear passengers will get touch screen to enjoy the entertainment package that has been added to the car. While creating the interior the designers have paid attention to detail. There are leather seats for comfortable seating. For finish the customer can choose from leather, Alcantara and Metal. There is also a panoramic glass roof that adds a unique effect with the incoming sunlight. Often feature heavy, technology driven interiors bring a degree of complexity with them. Infiniti wanted to build a modern interior that communicates with people in a simple manner.

The new ‘Q80 Inspiration’ backs up its stunning looks with equally remarkable performance. It has 550hp of power thanks to the inclusion of a 3.0 liter downsized V6 twin turbocharged engine and an electric motor, creating a hybrid powertrain.

The new engine of the car is a precursor to future engines that will be added to the cars from Infiniti in the coming years.

The engine can give you a fuel efficiency of around 5.5Liter per 100km. The CO2 emissions are in the region of 129grams per km. It follows the modern trend of high performance combined with controlled consumption of power. The driver will be able to switch from rear-wheel drive to all-wheel drive as per requirement.
