The Dodge Challenger nameplate has been in use since 1969. Before that another model called the ‘Silver Challenger’ was also built from 1958 to 1959. The ‘Dodge Challenger’ is a muscle car/ pony car that competes with models like Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang. Currently the model is in its third generation which came out in 2008. Early in 2014, Dodge had revealed the ‘Challenger SRT Hellcat’. It is a powerful variant of the 2015 model year ‘Dodge Challenger’. Finally, the model is set to arrive in dealerships in this month and prices have also been announced. Dodge wants to make this model the fastest as well as the most powerful muscle car in the world. The model was highly anticipated and since ordering was opened, more than 4500 orders were placed.

Tim Kuniskis CEO of Dodge and SRT has said that the reaction from the customers of Dodge as well as the general public has been tremendous . It has even exceeded the initial expectations set by the company. Kuniskis has also said that company will now work to develop a Challenger SRT Hellcat model for every demanding customer who wants to lay their hands on this powerhouse of a machine.

The immense power of the ‘Challenger SRT Hellcat’ comes from a V-8 6.2-liter HEMI engine that can generate mind boggling power of 707 hp and torque 650 lb.-ft. This engine is the very first factory-built HEMI supercharged unit. Apart from its immense power, the car also delivers remarkable performance. The National Hot Rod Association has certified that the Dodge has clocked 11.2 seconds elapsed time for ¼ mile and the speed was 125mph with stock tires. When drag radials are used , the ¼-mile run was even quicker at 10.8 seconds and at a speed of 126 mph. The top speed of the car is 199mph.
