Shelby American has thrown the wraps off 2015 Shelby GT Mustang. This new model is based on Ford Mustang GT. Excluding the price of the Mustang GT, the package is priced at $39,995. This is the starting price and considering the MRSP of $32,300, the total price amounts to $72,295. Orders are currently being accepted by the company and deliveries will commence in the second quarter of 2015. The company will register each Shelby GT in the official Shelby American Worldwide Registry. Also, each of the models will be given a Shelby American CSM number.
The grand model was revealed at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction. According to Shelby American Vice President of Strategic Sales and Media Relations – Gary Patterson, this new model is nicely balanced and strong. It does everything well whether on the drag strip or on the track. It will take performance to extreme levels. Moreover, the sleek styling is singularly American and has the touches from Shelby history.
The car is armed with a new engine that delivers more power than the previous one. The car has 5.0-liter V-8, which the company has equipped with a Ford Racing supercharger and Borla exhaust system accompanied by chrome tips. The modifications work their magic and the engine yields 627 bhp. If customers are not satisfied with this mighty engine, they can order a more powerful one that gives 700 bhp. More features included in this option are front brake cooling system that comprises of carbon fiber intakes, air injection plate along with channeling, fog light relocation, rear brake upgrade, adjustable track suspension package, Shelby Extreme Cooling system, engine dress up package and a Track Delivery Experience.
The car is available as coupe and also as convertible. Buyers have the choice of automatic and manual transmission. Ford Racing short-throw shifter is available in the manual cars. The rear end has been enhanced with Ford Racing performance half-shafts and a 3.73 gear ratio. There are two more options in engine besides the 5.0-liter V-8. With the 3.7L customers can enjoy an ideal balance of power and efficiency. The third option is the all-new 2.3L EcoBoost® .This masterpiece produces 310 hp, while the torque output is 320 lb.-ft. Moreover, it is blessed with the technology that enhances all the power. This has been made possible by improving SelectShift® automatic transmission and also the new Selectable Drive Modes.
Aerodynamics have been upgraded too. The new hood boasts several improvements made from carbon fiber- functional air vents, deck lid spoiler and front splitter. Also present are two-piece rear diffuser, mirror covers, deck lid, rocker panels and hood extension. Upper and lower front grilles have been crafted from Billet aluminum. The classic badging can be seen on the front grille as well as the C-pillars. More prominent features in the exterior are fake gas cap, body stripes and 20-inch alloy wheels accompanied by Michelin tires. The wheels by Weld Racing measure 20×9.5-inch front and 20×10.5-inch rear. As for the tires, the dimensions are 275/35ZR20 front and 305/30ZR20 rear. The company has brought about improvements in suspension too, by incorporating Ford Racing’s new performance handling kit. This comprises of shocks, sway bars and springs. Also, the stopping power has been upgraded by Wilwood six-piston front brake calipers.
Inside, the magnificent interior gives the pleasure of Shelby custom headrests that are made attractive with embroidery. Also present are CSM dash plaque, carbon fiber trim, Shelby floor mats and Shelby GT door sill plates. With the 700 HP option, the interior too gets tweaked and customers will have a customized interior – that is for base or Recaro seats.
