Customers will have an excellent range of gas as well as diesel powertrains. Other than the full range of engines, the car comes with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. It would be one of the sport-luxury sedans that come with a manual transmission. The mid-size sedan will give a tough competition to BMW 3 series. It would be priced around $ 60,000.

According to, Nick Miller, the Chief Platform Engineer, the company has made XE to be an accessible Jaguar. It has been designed with the intention of attracting new customers to the brand. The car is based on the company’s new flexible architecture. This new architecture will essentially serve as a platform for the other models that the company would launch in the future. With XE, the car makers have made a comeback to the critical compact segment, after an absence of several years. The last offering in this segment was X-Type. It was a complete failure and never achieved the sales that the company had hoped.

The company has revealed the details only about the top-of-the line model XE S. Jaguar has armed this new launch with a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine. The engine delivers a power of 340 bhp, while the output is 332 lb- ft. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The same powertrain had been used for F-Type coupe. The aerodynamic design of the car ensures a drag coefficient of just 0.26. This new model would be the company’s first one to have an electric power steering system.

This way, they have managed to keep the curb weight at bay. The car successfully competes with BMW and Lexus, as its weight is 300 pounds lesser when compared to these two. XE weighs about 3249 pounds.

In the rear, the car comes with the Integral Link suspension that is accompanied by double-wishbone front suspension. With the Integral Link system, road holding would be improved significantly over a typical multi-link suspension system. Similar to the XFs, the front clip features a rectangular grille. It car borrows the tail lights from the F-type. With an overall length of 183.9 inches, it has a wheelbase of 111.6-inch.

Inside the car, the new infotainment system Jaguar InControl promises a rich collection of features. The 8 inch touch screen has sharper resolution and is more responsive. Customers can use their smartphone for functions such as remotely starting the engine as well as locking and unlocking the doors.
