The dashing street-legal Elise S Cup has been unveiled by Lotus. This new model borrows its features largely from Elise S Cup R. The CFD proved aero pack along with the motorsport-specific engine control module (ECM) ensure excellent performance.
The aerodynamic body kit comprises of a front splitter, bargeboards and winglets. Also present are – fixed roof, a massive rear diffuser and a rear wing. As the company says, these modifications have enhanced the downforce. It has been increased by 66 kg at 100 mph. For the car’s top speed of 140 mph, this figure is 125 kg. Another benefit of these changes is the reduction of lap time – it is three seconds faster around the Hethel track when compared with the standard Elise S.
The company has managed to keep the weight at bay, despite of all the race-ready additions and the extra body kit; it weighs just 932 kg. The new styling and aerodynamics aren’t the only modifications. The car features a T45 specification roll bar. This allows for future upgrades, such as installation of a full roll cage and a competition harnesses. The electrical system has also been altered. The new system enables easy installation of accessories, for example fire extinguishing system and a kill-switch.
It runs on a supercharged four-cylinder 1.8-liter engine. The power output is 217 bhp, while the torque generated is 184 lb-ft at 4,600 rpm. The immense power is channeled to the wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The car can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in a matter of 4.2 seconds. In a mixed European cycle, it has the fuel economy of 31 mpg. Elise S Cup is priced at £43,500 in the U.K., while the German customers can have it for €56,525. The car will be available all around Europe. But Lotus has not yet planned to launch it in US.
