In 2014, Super Bowl gathered more than 110 million viewers when it ran on US television. Nissan was therefore smart enough to make good use of the commercial break. It was during this time that the car makers revealed their brand new Nissan GT-R LM Nismo. The technical details of this masterpiece have also been revealed.
Nissan GT-R LM Nismo runs on a 3.0 liter V8 twin turbo gasoline engine along with a kinetic energy recovery system. The car is a front wheel drive and front-engined. Engineers have excellent opportunity to put their minds to the best innovation, as there is more technical freedom in FIA World Endurance Championship as compared to Formula 1.
The global head of Marketing and Brand Strategy at Nissan, Roel de Vries, reported that the company is proud to reveal this new vehicle during Super Bowl. Other than this event, Le Mans 24 Hours also gave them the opportunity to make the public aware of the latest motorsport program of the company. The GT-R is their flagship road car. The new model is meant to carry on the sporting bloodline that originated 30 years ago with Nismo. He also said that they have the best rivals in the world and that they are ready to face them. The car model will compete at FIA World Endurance Championship in the LM P1 class- which is considered the highest category in sports car racing. The event shall begin on 12th April this year at Silverstone in UK.
The president of Nismo, Shoichi Miyatani, says that such innovation is exciting. Sustainability is the company’s priority. The company was at the third place at Le Mans. Hence they have unfinished business pending and want to be the champion this time. The competition is quite strong and they are ready for the challenge.
