2015 Suzuki Vitara was revealed in Paris last year in October. This model is now ready to run on the streets of United Kingdom and the company has even released quite a many details. The pricing starts at £13,999. The compact SUV will hit the UK showrooms this April. They are calling the design of this brand new model as city oriented. Front-wheel drive is present as standard on the model. Customers willing to spend more can get Suzuki’s ALLGRIP four-wheel drive.
This five-door crossover is available with both gasoline and diesel engines. The 1.6-liter gasoline engine churns out 120 HP at 6,000 rpm and the torque produced is 156 Nm at 4,400 rpm. The petrol engine that comes with two-wheel drive gives CO2 emissions equal to 123 g/km (two-wheel drive). As for the four wheel drive, the figures are 131 g/km in case of six-speed automatic transmission and 130 g/km for five-speed manual transmission. The company has had weight savings in this engine and the friction has also been reduced. Together with these improvements, the other components too contribute to the excellent fuel economy.
Another option is the 1.6-liter diesel that gives 120 HP at 3,750 rpm and the toque output is 320 Nm at 1,750 rpm. They are mated to either six-speed automatic or the five-speed manual. The CO2 emissions (with six-speed automatic) are 106 g/km and 111 g/km for the two- wheel and four-wheel drive respectively. The fuel economy, on the EC Combined cycle, is 70.6 mpg. The diesel engine has EGR – Exhaust Gas Recirculation system. Also present is the VGT, Variable Geometry Turbocharger, that is electronically controlled. It enables the car to deliver a top-notch performance while complying with Euro 6 and maintaining low CO2 emissions.
SZ4 is the base model. It features 16-inch alloy wheels and projector headlamps. The interior has Bluetooth and USB connectivity, seven airbags, front and rear electric windows, automatic AC and DAB radio. Cruise control is present along with speed limiter. Pricing for the SZ-T starts at £ 15,499 and this one has 17-inch wheels. In this model, the additional features are Smartphone link navigation and audio and also rear privacy glass.
Going up higher, Vitara SZ5 can be had for £ 19,499 onwards. It has 17-inch polished alloy wheels and LED projector headlights. It gets several added features like adaptive cruise control, panoramic sunroof, suede seat fabric and radar brake support. It has keyless entry with start button too. SZ5 is blessed with the company’s intelligent four-wheel, called Suzuki ALLGRIP – it is optional.
According to the trim, Suzuki customers can get the urban package that comes for £ 500. It comprises of body side moldings, roof spoiler and fog lamp bezels that are chrome-plated. Rugged package, also priced at £ 500, includes body side moldings, loading edge protection, fog lamp bezels and front & rear skid plates too.
Personalization was always Suzuki’s priority when they designed Vitara. To suite the tastes of different customers, the car comes with several design details and colors for the body paint. There are 10 stunning shades to choose from. Among these, five colors are two tone combinations and two shades are new. The two new hues are Horizon Orange Metallic and Atlantis Turquoise Pearl Metallic. To personalize even further, there are choices for other features of the car. The centrally located clock can be had in KANJI or in CARBON. The instrument panel trim comes in piano black, white, orange or turquoise. Also, the same four hues are available for ventilation louvre rings. Safety is ensured by the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ESP® (Electronic Stability Programme) and impact absorbing body.
