Acura 2016 MDX which was to be launched later this month has been unveiled. This updated model looks quite similar to its predecessor, which was America’s best-selling SUV. However, several changes have been made to the interiors of this car. A Multi-View Rear Camera with Dynamic Guidelines and Apple’s Siri Eyes Free Voice Recognition system are the few additions that have been observed in this new and modified version. A frameless rear view mirror is also a part of this car. Another special addition is the new easy entry driver seat which allows the driver’s seat to be shifted 35mm towards the rear. The seat shifts when the door on the side of the driver opens. A shift-by-wire gear selector has replaced the console mounted shifter. This gear selector comes with push button controls that enable any gear to be selected with a single click.
The 3.5-liter V6 engine of the 2016 MDX now connects to a nine-speed automatic transmission with Sequential SportShift technology. This advancement lets the gear shift 25% faster and also weighs 30kg less when compared to the previous six-speed automatic transmission system. This crossover has another advantage. The engine enhances the acceleration and also improves the distribution of weight. When the front-to-rear weight distribution is correct, handling the vehicle becomes increasingly easy. It comes with a light weight All-wheel drive system that provides enhanced torque-vectoring capacity. The super handling features of this car also come with a revised and improved SH-AWD system. It has a dual-clutch and a torque-vectoring rear diff which supports the rotation of vehicles when they are in corners. The stability and agility of this car has significantly improved and the newly added features provide support in all climatic conditions.
The AcuraWatch Package offers numerous driver assistance and safety features to the car. The entire package of this brand can be purchased at an extra $1,500. This package consists of Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow and Forward Collision Warning. Lane Keeping Assist System and Lane Departure Warning are two of the other special features that can be availed with this package. Rear Cross Traffic Monitor, Blind Spot Information and Road Departure Mitigation can also be added to the car with this package.
The Road Departure Mitigation has a monocular camera lens which is mounted onto the windshield. This camera scans all the lane markers, reflectors and Bott’s Dots. It uses the steering and braking system to keep the car on the desired lane. It also issues numerous visual and audible alerts to notify the passers-by that the car is trying to come onto the right path. The settings for the alerts can be modified on choice. The rear cross traffic monitor is another piece of technology which assists the driver. This monitor works along with the Blind Spot Information sensors. This feature allows the driver to back up safely with much more confidence. The blind spot radars are located in the rear bumpers of the car. They detect if any other vehicle is approaching the car and transmit signals to its center display. This rear camera image points arrows in the direction from which the other vehicle is approaching. An audible warning is also issued to further enhance the security feature.
The advanced Trim version of this car comes with the option of back seat entertainment. This version also has a remote engine start system. This third-generation car is a luxurious people carrier with three-rows. The price of the 2016 Acura MDX is $42,865 without including the destination charges. This price is only $1,100 more than the 2015 version. The technology package which adds many features to this car is available at $250. This car will be available with the dealers from 4th of February, 2015.
