Citroen DS5 2016 boasts world-class styling, wide range of advanced technologies and dynamic performance. It is a DS flagship model and gets aggressive brand new front end along with several other changes sure to attract swarms of customers. This new model will be presented at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. It will hit the UK showrooms in July this year.
The front fascia boasts a beautifully sculpted vertical grille adorned with monogramme right in the middle. The Xenon Full LED headlights and scrolling indicators further add to the breath taking looks. The headlights are the most prominent feature in the front and highlight the refinement that the car is blessed with. This headlight design was launched on DS 3 in July 2014 and will be seen on all DS models.
The car bears truly royal looks whether seen from the front, side or rear. When seen from the side, one can feast their eyes on the sleek looking chrome sabre that runs from the tip of headlamp to the front window of the car. The rear too contributes to the beauty of the car. In the rear end, can be seen rear light signature, wide tracks and the twin tailpipes that have been integrated within the rear bumper.
This latest DS5 runs on the latest engine engineered by the PSA Group. The engines available with this model churn out power between 120 HP and 210 HP. The fuel economy for the diesel models ranges from 74.3 mpg to 65.7 mpg. Customers have a choice of six dynamic and smooth Euro engines. The torque ranges from 240 Nm to 400 Nm. By the end of 2015, the range would be extended and the THP 210 S&S 6-speed manual would also be available.
The latest EAT6 automatic gearbox provides 6-speeds with less internal friction, improved driveability and faster gear changes. The DS5 THP 165 S&S gives as much as 47.9 mpg, while the CO2 emissions are 135g/km. This is an improvement of 18% or 30 g/km as compared to the previous generation Euro 5 THP 155. The engine is armed with Stop&Start technology and the maximum injection pressure is 200 bar. The peak output comes out to be 121kW at 6,000rpm. Whereas the maximum torque is 240 Nm- available from 1,400 rpm and remaining constant to 4,000 rpm.
Also available on the model are the latest-generation BlueHDi diesel engines. This brilliant technology blends CO2 emissions and low fuel consumption with superb performance. This has been made possible by several enhancements such as new diamond-like carbon coating which has increased reliability, improved internal efficiency and an exhaust system that is more efficient and innovative. The SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction), located upstream of the particulate filter, enables the reduction of NOx emissions by 90%. Also the CO2 emissions are reduced by 4%.
The most noticeable feature in the cabin is the cockpit roof. The roof has three light wells, and day or night- passengers can adjust the ambience in accordance with their comfort and requirements. The car has a wealth of features that ensure utmost comfort- electric memory & massaging front seats, heated door mirrors, keyless entry & start, electrochrome interior mirror, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, ambient lighting and Denon Hi-Fi system.
The colour touchdrive interface enables the owner to access all in-car functions, right from navigation to the music system. The interior layout has been simplified- the dashboard and fascia have 12 fewer buttons. Another useful feature is the Mirror Screen technology, with which the users can copy their smartphone content onto the screen. Yet more facilities are a lane departure warning function, hill-start assist, head-up display, automatic high beam control, stability control, a reversing camera and intelligent traction control.
