Peugeot 208 has been given a fresh look. Everything about this new model is just amazing- the classy body colors, the elegant design and the most useful equipments it is loaded with. From June 2015 onwards, Peugeot 208 will go on sale in Europe.
The front fascia looks more sturdy- thanks to the grill that has been made wider. The chrome finisher- that is now thicker and also the grille have been integrated fully into the bumper. They give the car a strong and robust look. The EQUALIZER grille can be seen with chrome stamped finisher on the higher trim levels. Another eye catching feature is the foglamps. The front gets new headlamps too that are two-tone. They bear a smart look with the chrome and black masks. The models from second trim onwards get the new headlamps. From trim level 3 onwards, the door mirror shells with chrome will be standard.
The prominent features in the side profile are the window surrounds with chrome, overhangs that have been reduced and the sculpted body. According to the model, the car runs on CARBONE wheels of 17 inches, NIOBIUM wheels of 15 inches, TITANE wheels of 16 inches and some other types. The company offers several kinds of 16 inch and 17 inch wheels. Moreover, there are options for their finishes too- laser engraved, sequential diamante, diamante or painted. The rear features opaline taillamps with 3D and LED claws that are new. Their 3D effect and red color give them a shiny look and enable them to stand out. The three claws symbolize the company’s singular style. Also, these lamps are present across the range.
The company’s i-Cockpit can be found in the cabin. The controls and the instruments have been ingeniously arranged. These were loved by customers before too when the car was launched in 2012. Peugeot 308 and 2008 had an original concept that made the customers experience a safe and at the same time enjoyable drive. The i-Cockpit has a large enough touchscreen, a dashing instrument cluster, and a steering wheel that is compact. The car’s length is less than four meters. This makes it easy to handle and agile too. Trim level 3 onwards, the wheel is trimmed in leather that is full-grain. The dashboard strip is moulded and is present as a standard on all trims. The upper levels have new graining. It has a refined finish and a soft touch, thus making the dashboard even more elegant than before.
On the instrument panel, the driver can conveniently see all the important driving information. The centrally located display screen and the white lighting ensure precision and clarity while reading any driving information. The top of range models LED rings can be seen around analogue dials. The dials are red on the GTi and blue on the level 4.
The touch screen is 7 inches and passengers can easily access all the systems- vehicle information, audio, internet, telephone and navigation. The various connectivity features are- USB, Bluetooth, and Peugeot Connect Apps that give access to mobile application. Also present is the MirrorScreen system which enables the transfer of the smartphone’s screen to the screen of the car. The white backlighting looks modern and pure. The panoramic roof has blue light and LED courtesy lamps. The Monitoring Pack provides advice about eco-driving. The Tracking Pack gives geo-location of the car in case it is stolen. The Mapping Pack provides the necessary email alerts if the car is used outside certain areas.
More features that enhance the interior are Half-TEP PU red and black sports seats. Red stitching can be seen on the panels of the door armrests, seats, gear lever grip that is covered in leather and also the gear lever gaiter. The door handles shine with gloss black. The wheel has a flat section, the insert is satin chrome and the leather is adorned in red stitching. The door sill finishers and pedal trims are in aluminium .
BlueHDi technology offers the most efficient diesel engines. The CO2 emissions of the 1.6 liter engine are less than 95 g/km. The entry level model is powered by 75 HP engine. All the models feature Stop & Start system that uses a heavy-duty starter motor.
BlueHDi 1.6 litre engines are offered in three power levels. The 75 S&S produces 90g/km of CO2. The second one is the 100 S&S that emits 87g/km of CO2. On lower fuel consumption, the emission is 70 g/km while the car consumes just 3.0 liters for every 100 km. Both the engines are mated to 5-speed manual gearbox- that is present as standard. The third engine is the 120 S&S. This one is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The CO2 emissions are 94g/km.
The company has added engines to the PureTech three-cylinder petrol engines. The turbocharged 1.2 liter comes in 110 S&S version. It gives a clean and top-notch performance. It has a direct injection system with the high pressure of 200 bar. The high-efficiency and new-generation turbocharger runs at 240,000 rpm. It is accompanied by a 5-speed manual gearbox. The CO2 emissions are 103 g/km. Moreover, it can be had with EAT6 automatic gearbox. AISIN has engineered this automatic gearbox. It makes use of Quickshift technology that enables to change gears more quickly. At the same time, it ensures lower carbon emissions. The EAT6 110 S&S gives CO2 emissions as low as 104 g / km. When compared with the previous generation, this is a reduction by 45g/km.
