Peugeot 308 R HYbrid Concept 2015 was showcased at Shanghai Motor Show. The cabin features a center console that is stretched-out and four bucket seats have been included. In the roof lining, the upper fittings are can be seen in slate grey. Fawn-coloured leather is featured on the bucket seats. The cabin has traces of red – around the steering wheels center, in the center console and also around the car’s dials. For the very first time, the Peugeot 308 R Hybrid has used materials that are usually found on concept cars. So the dashboard has fabric made by digital weaving. This material is used for making complex and large parts which are soft to touch and no foam in needed – this makes the vehicle lighter. Digital fabric and black leather are used on door panels.

Peugeot i-Cockpit features excellent innovation. The steering wheel is compact and is covered in perforated leather. It flaunts 308 R Hybrid emblem. The positioning of the steering wheel is incisive and precise at the time of cornering. The design of the wheel guarantees a very good control to the driver. A head-up display is present and shows all the driving information in ac convenient manner so that drivers can view simultaneously while driving.

The central console has two buttons that let the driver take care of the mechanics. One of the buttons can is used to activate the powertrain, and the with the second button, one of the four driving modes can be accessed. The car makers combine three sources to make a great powertrain. Each source works independent of the rest of the sources. The car comes with 1.6L THP 4-cylinder 270 S&S petrol engine. The electric motor generates 115 hp and is accompanied by 6-speed gearbox. Another electric motor similar to the previous one is present on the car’s rear axle.

The company has recentred the weight of the car so the drivers get to enjoy good dynamic handling. The lithium ion battery of 3 kWh features a great power to size ration. The battery is present beneath the car’s seats and has taken up the place of the fuel tank. And the fuel tank now is present in the boot that is located above rear electric motor. The fuel tanks bottom has been redesigned completely. This has been done so that the tank sits tightly against the car’s technical components. The center control has a toggle button than can be used to select one of the available four driving modes.

The first mode is Hot Lap which is the most powerful mode. It harnesses as much potential as possible from the car’s three power sources. It hence achieves a whopping 500 ho, while the peak torque is 730 Nm. Another mode is Track Mode, in case of which the power output is 400 hp, while the torque generated is 530 Nm. Mainly rear electric motor and petrol engine are used for this purpose. Front electric motor provides as additional boost while accelerating. The third mode is Road that is meant for off-road driving. 300 hp is the generated power and the torque output is 400 Nm. The petrol engine will deliver its full potential in this mode. Rear electric motor is useful at the time of accelerations. Front electric motor is not used in Road mode. In ZEV, the rear electric motor is give priority. The use of front electric motor will depend upon the amount of pressure that the driver applies on accelerator pedal.The braking system uses ventilated discs of 380 mm for the front. While discs of 290 mm are used for the rear.
