The sport suspension has been lowered by 15 mm.
The side profile of Golf GTD Variant is made attractive with 17-inch wheels with Curitiba design. These are accompanied by 225 tyres along with side sill extensions. The exterior features cornering lights and bi-xenon headlights as standard features. The elegance of radiator grille is highlighted with the chrome strip. The strip flows towards the headlights, and thus divides them into two sections. The upper section is the one having bi-xenon, while the lower section has indicator. The bumper has been given a fresh look especially for GT models. LED fog lights are offered as an optional feature on the either sides. Air guide components feature glossy black finish. The insert for lower radiator grille has black honeycomb layout.
A stunning feature in the rear is tail light of dark red shade. Just like Golf GTD’s two-door as well as four-door variants, this one too offers optional paint finishes. Volkswagen offers three colors – Black, Pure White and Tornado Red. The luggage compartment is a gigantic 605 liters. The boot space is large even with five people in the car. Versatility of the car can be seen from the 1,620 cargo capacity when the loading is done up to the backrests of the front seat and up to the car’s headliner. Behind the rear seat, the luggage compartment has been provided a cover that comes as standard. Moreover, the cargo floor can be fully removed and its height can be adjusted too.

The car has a very smart cabin with just the right combination of white, grey and black. It becomes even more attractive with chrome elements. Leather upholstery is available as optional. Climatronic is the automatic climate control. Driver Alert is present too and the radio system Composition Touch comes with features like AUX-IN interface and SD card slot. The elements that add sportiness to the interior are footrest caps and pedal made from brushed stainless steel. The multifunction three-spoke steering wheel is covered in leather and is flat-bottomed. The instrument cluster has extended control settings and that the multifunction display offers. Also present is a smartly designed GTD gear knob.
For ensuring the car meets Euro-6 emissions standard, Volkswagen has incorporated several intelligent solutions. The exhaust system consists of two oxygen sensors. Out of these, one controls reduced air operating mode for NOx storage catalytic converter. Another function it serves, is that it acts as input parameter for model in engine controller. This is done to find the engine’s soot and NOx emissions. Other oxygen sensor determines the contaminant loading as well as the aging state of NOx storage catalytic converter. There are three temperature sensors that are integrated into the car’s exhaust system. These give input parameters for controlling exhaust gas temperatures and regeneration operating modes. VW Golf GTD Variant’s TDI gives out very low emissions and is fuel efficient as well. Because of two balancer shafts having anti-friction bearings, the engine operation is very smooth as well.
