Audi has introduced Q7 e-tron 2.0 TFSI quattro in which the company has for the first time combine all-wheel drive quattro with TFSI plug-in hybrid. This vehicle has been developed especially for the markets of Asia – Japan, China and Singapore. The car delivers 367 hp power and a torque of 700 Nm. It takes only 5.9 seconds to sprint from a standstill to 100 km/hr. It is potent enough to hit the top speed of 220 km/hr. The fuel consumption is just 2.5 liters, thus giving a fuel economy of 94.1 mpg US. CO2 emissions are below 60 g/km.
Similar to all the hybrid models of Audi, Q7 e-tron 2.0 TFSI quattro too is a parallel hybrid. The four-cylinder 2.0 TFSI engine churns out 252 hp power and the torque generated is 370 Nm. Targeted counterpulses are used by active engine bearings so that unwanted vibrations can be eliminated.
Stepping inside, the three seats come with backrests that are adjustable. These can be moved forward or backward as the occupants want. The car makers have accommodated the lithium-ion such that it takes up minimum space. Useful design elements such as wrap-around that is a long arc which is present around the front passenger and driver show how spacious the interior is. The trim areas are two-part and customers can have several combinations. The upholstery used is top-notch. The selection material has been color-coordinated for making the cabin very pleasing.
The modular infotainment is second-generation. It features Tegra 30 graphics microchip by NVIDIA. It is voice-operated and the steering wheel is multifunctional. The voice operation can be carried out with the steering wheel and also with MMI terminal that has been newly developed. The all-in-touch MMI is the touchpad that has haptic feedback. Audi has also provided supplemental infotainment modules. These are – Bose and Bang & Olufsen 3D audio systems, phone box that charges cell phones while improving reception quality at the same time and Audi tablet for the entertainment of rear seat passengers.
Audi Q7 e-tron 2.0 TFSI quattro has several equipments as standard. These include Audi virtual cockpit, 19-inch wheels and MMI all-in-touch. The MMI navigation plus comes with navigation map and online updates. Automated air conditioning is yet another feature. It works with the heat pump which carried out thermal management by using waste heat from electrical drive components. Efficiency management is yet another feature of the car. The interior gets heated up faster when the temperature is low. The SUV comes with a variety of options – head-up display, panoramic glass sunroof and tinted privacy glazing. If customers want, the front passenger can have contour seats that are customized, climate-controlled and have massage function.
Audi has incorporated an electromechanical power steering that is very sensitive and efficient as well. Another new feature is five-link wheel suspension. It has been developed for the front and also the rear axles. This new five-link wheel suspension is lighter by 60 kg when compared with the one present on the predecessor car. This change gives rise to better drive dynamics. Another contributing feature here is the lowering of the center of gravity.
To raise the comfort level even more, the car makers provide as an option adaptive air suspension that features controlled damping. The mode of operation can be regulated through standard drive select dynamic handling. This system provides seven modes. It integrates technical elements too such as accelerator, automatic transmission and steering. The assistance systems present on the car are – turn assist, trailer assist, collision avoidance assist and cross-traffic assist. Present as standard are – off-road navigation, hill descent control, tilt angle display and Electronic Stabilization Control that comes with off-road mode.
