The 2015 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este experienced BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage, a BMW design team’s tribute to the classic Coupe from the house of BMW in the 70s. It represents a revolution in the lightweight design and performance of cars. The model evokes a sense of déjà vu with the earlier model as it represents the modern alternative with revolutionary changes in every aspect. With 200 Kg lighter than the earlier model, the whole body is curved out of CFRP or carbon-fibre-reinforced-plastic. It has the finest weight-to-strength ratio. The CFRP also makes the design tangible inside out and hence, follows a tradition of BMW’s many years. The 3.0 CLS is a style icon as it epitomizes the racing genre and hence, continues to be ever popular among the BMW fans. With air deflectors, roof and tail spoilers, wheel arches, it provides fantastic aerodynamics to ensure optimal flow of air on both sides. The rear spoiler plays an importance in enhancing power transmission. The color is retained as the one of the original- the classic golf yellow.
The kidney grille of BMW, the four-eyed front and the flat headlamps make the signature BMW front. The horizontal strips of LEDs create a connection between the headlights and the grille. A front splitter lessens the gap between the road and the front. With all-CFRP interior, the instrument panel stands apart with woody finishing. It is like a throwback of the old model and the instrument panel also has a central display that provides continuous information about the current status of every essential part. The display comes with eBoost charging technology. The rear end has an excellently crafted apron which resembles the raw power this car can generate. Overall, the bonnet creates a sense of broad “V”, something that reminds the car lovers of the classic BMW coupes.
